MUM, I need.......for TOMORROW!

My 7yo dd comes home from school yesterday excitedly informing me that she needs to wear red & black tomorrow (today now) in rememberance of the Christchurch (New Zealand) earthquake on Feb 22. My dd does not wear red - she's a pink/purple girl. Black was easier to come by. We're wandering home & I'm catching myself saying to her 'it's ok darling, I've got some red fabric, I'll make you a skirt'! Usually @ 4pm I starting dinner, but I was sitting at the table measuring dd, reading books, punching numbers into calculator. By 4.30 I'd washed a piece of fabric & dried it. Just as I go to cut the fabric dear dd informs me that she wants a square skirt (handkerchief hem) wellll.... back to the books, tapemeasure & calculator. Yikes, better make dinner! Halfway through, I'm back cutting out fabric! Dinner's late by 30mins, dh is eating his dinner out of the pots & I have enough pins in this skirt to perforate a piƱata.7.30 rolls around & I'm getting dd OUT of bed to try her skirt on: too loose, tighten the elastic. Try again: still too loose. 3rd time lucky!
6.40 this morning one very happy 7yo is ready to support Christchurch!
